Peckish

Overview
I commented in the Adobe Creative Jam contest with Twitch. We were tasked to design a third-party desktop app or website that serves as a single-stop resource for any media related to a topic and encourages users to find new interests, events, and communities. We used XD to create our prototype. We were awarded honorable mention (top 20 team) out of over 400 submissions.

Role
My role on my team of two was the main user product designer. I ideated the experience for the user and took it from wireframes to a prototype. I built out all the used components and templates used. I also assisted in branding our project with my teammate who worked on the illustrations.

Timeframe
We had one week to complete the challenge and produce a working prototype.
Ideation
We began this design challenge by coming up with our concept of creating a space for people around the world to share food, cooking tips, and recipes via videos, livestreams, and messaging. We then mapped out all the pages we wanted to design so we had structure for out project moving forward. The information architecture of the site helped us decide what pages to design and in what order.

Wireframing
After the mapping, we created basic wireframes of different pages and played around with site structure until we had a user-friendly setup. Here are two of the wireframes pages.
Branding
We then came up with our branding concept. We chose orange and yellow as our main color because they are the colors associated with hunger. We used a darker blue instead of black to create a softer and less jarring feel. Helvetica was our font of choice for its simplicity and legibility. We worked to make sure our designs were accessible following WCAG's color contrast guidelines. The name Peckish came from a combination of wanting a fun and quirky name that related to food or eating.
