Leo Leo Gelato Packaging Redesign

  • Overview

In my graphics for packaging course, we were tasked to rebrand Leo Leo Gelato with a compostable pint. We worked to create a more youthful and colorful package to draw in new and returning customers.

  • Role

I worked as a graphic designer within a team of 4. We all contributed to the project by working together on research, branding guidelines, and illustrations. I created the concept for the design and we worked as a team to bring it to reality.

  • Timeframe

This project took place during a quarter over the course of 10 weeks. We engaged in weekly critiques to adapt and develop our designs.

Personas

My team and I researched the average gelato consumer to better understand the wants and needs of who was buying our product. From the data we collected, we compiled these personas to represent the consumer in a visual and easy to reference way. We aimed our design to target this type of customer.

Branding

Leo Leo Gelato branding style is bright, sweet, sunny, and nostalgic. The use of round shapes convey a sweet flavor. The bold colors serve to quickly differentiate flavors in a freezer shelf. They are paired with accent colors that are in line with WCAG contrast guidelines for accessibility.

Final Dielines

Final designs were warped to fit the dieline of a traditional pint. This size was used because it is the easiest shape to find a compostable package of.

3D Mockups

We created three dimensional mockups using Esko software.
